Over the last five and a half weeks I have been fairly absent from my blog and I think I have a decent enough excuse. On the 20th January my boyfriend and I introduced a beautiful golden Labrador into our lives – Bella. She is by far the most entertaining, stressful, playful and adorable thing in my life to date. Below is the first picture we ever took with her on our first trip to meet her.
We got Bella from a well known, local dog breeder who has won several awards and accelaids over the past 20 years. She has a massive variety of dog breeds but we had our heart set on a big, gorgeous Lab. Who can resist a proper dog?! Bella was from a litter of 10 puppies, 5 boys and 5 girls. When we got in touch with the breeder we learnt that Bella was her last remaining puppy so we knew it was meant to be.
In the time we’ve had Bella, we’ve come to learn that she is for the most part a ‘good’ puppy. She sleeps well, eats well, settles quickly in car journeys and doesn’t chew too much (i.e we leave NOTHING in her reach ha!).
She has had all of her vaccinations and is now at the stage were she can go for walks outside and mingle with other dogs and puppies which she loves! I have to credit my boyfriend for all of that. He is so patient with her and they are literally best friends. He takes her to weekly puppy training classes and dog socialisation to get her used to being around other dogs. I have attended a few of these and baby Bella is in her element.
Present day – Bella is now 13 weeks old and weighs 8.9 kilos. She’s getting bigger and stronger everyday. She has long walks daily and we have no trouble getting her to keep her collar on. She loves getting stuck in the mud, literally. She is full of life which can be a bit of a handful but I wouldn’t change her for anything.
If you or someone you know is thinking about getting a puppy or adopting a dog just do it (if you have the right circumstances). They bring so much love and laughter to your life and really are a friend for life.
